What’s wrong with CNN?
Yes, I know; the obvious answer to that question is “Everything”, but I’m referring more specifically to their recent decision to shut down their science, space, and tech division. Christa Robinson, a CNN spokesperson indicates that the division is being shutdown and integrated with the general editorial structure, saying “Now that the bulk of our environmental coverage is offered through the Planet in Peril franchise, which is part of the AC360 program, there is no need for a separate unit.”
This poor decision is further compounded by the fact that, due to closure of the division, CNN will be loosing Miles O’Brien. O’Brien is a 16 year veteran of the network and, until recently, one of their few redeeming features.
I suppose that, following the good decision of dropping Glenn Beck, CNN had to scramble to come up with something drastically stupid enough to tip the stupid scale back to a position where they would feel more at home.
Television truly has proven that it is completely obsolete in terms of providing good, un-biased, un-slanted news, specifically in the areas of science and technology.
